An important aid to organisations and companies who control and / or process personal data.
On the 24th January 2018 the European Commission published guidance for Data controllers and/or Data processors of personal data in the context of preparations for the arrival of new rules under the General Data Protection Regulation 2016/679. The information available on the European Commission Press Release webpage clearly sets out much of the necessary relevant information to help companies and organisations get their ‘ducks in a line’ in good time. Of particular use is their online SME tool. Also, check out their useful infographic.
The Irish Data Protection Commissioner’s website is obviously a very good go-to resource and therefore worth visiting regularly. The DPC states…
‘The General Data Protection Regulation significantly changes data protection law in Europe, strengthening the rights of individuals and increasing the obligations on organisations. Get aware, and get prepared’.
